Dear god, I'm tired. Crazy day. Van is in the shop and needs an obscene dollar amount of repairs. Missed work as a result, but on the bright side, that allowed me to rehearse most of the day. Presented the "first draft" of my act for feedback from my instructor Trixie, and Tamara the Trapeze Lady. It went pretty well, and I got a lot of positive feedback, as well as a lot of useful suggestions for improvement. I have a lot of work left to do, but things are coming along very nicely.
Happy birthday
dali_muse !!
It will be my birthday in an hour.
I paid market price for a vintage rhinestone brooch today. I almost never do that, but it reminded me of a cnidarian, or maybe prehistoric crinoid. I want to own pretty much every rhinestone brooch ever made, but I just can't say no to the ones that remind me of marine invertebrates.
I need recommendations for a tattoo artist. Someone who is capable of really detailed fine line work. Any suggestions?
Holy crap[1]. I have to get on a plane in 5 days. I should think about packing or something. At the very least I should find my passport and Nexus card.
[1]Also, YAY!

Today I saw a gorgeous graphic adaptation of The Origin of Species . I want it with a powerful wanting.
Come on people, make with the posts. I ned to read stuff for inspiration.
This year I'm not allowed to go up the stairs of each house with the girl while she trick or treats. She's "too big" for that.
I really don't want to go to the dentist today. How bad can it be to live with a broken tooth?
Do you have a dentist that you like? Do they use gas or prescribe tranquilizers? I cracked a tooth last night and need to see someone soon.
Listening to KUOW this morning, I was appalled to hear Robert Fulghum refer to a woman as "that lady doctor". REALLY? In 2009? Guess he didn't learn how not to be sexist in kindergarten.

Casey is battling Osteosarcoma. The cancer has metastasized into her lungs and right shoulder. She will also be having her right leg and part of her pelvis amputated this September. This is because while the tumor has shrunk a little between it and the chemo her leg has fractured badly just from walking on it.
A week or so ago, Casey entered into a contest by Victoria's Secret. The prize is a trip for two to New York City for 3 days of pampering at a spa, staying in a nice hotel, a shopping trip and seeing a city Casey has never been to.
This is somebody who could really use a break from everything she's dealing with. Click on the link to vote for her at profile 880.

When it comes to Twilight fandom, there really is nothing so crazy and over the top that it will be instantly recognized as mockery.
I'm planning to do the online Rosetta Stone, and I cannot decide which language. Rhiannon has a little Spanish, and Ramon has some Portuguese and is doing the Spanish Rosetta Stone at work[1], so Spanish could be a family thing. I've never been terribly interested in learning Spanish on its own merits though. I studied German in high school and college, and have about a preschool level grasp of the language[2]. I would LOVE to learn more if just to stop being annoyed by German music[3]. Thing is, while I DO have at least 2 people to speak German with, it wouldn't be quite as useful. I'm also slightly intrigued by the idea of French. It might be useful if I ever run away to Canada, but it isn't a serious contender. Oh, LJ, tell me what to do[4].
[1]Where they have it available for use in the library.
[2]Maybe better than that actually. It was functional for use with German tourists when I worked at the Waikiki Aquarium. I am just insanely shy about it and WILL not speak it unless I have to even with people who love me and would undoubtedly be very sympathetic and helpful conversation partners.
[3]I can't really enjoy a song because my brain gets about 20-30% of the meaning and spends the whole time grasping for the rest of it.
[4]And then I will take your advice under consideration and make my own decision.
